Abortion clinics in Texas filed appeal in the Supreme Court to struck down state law forcing to close down clinics on the basis of stringent regulations.
The law signed in 2013 provides that the clinics for abortion has to be constructed like surgical centres and doctors can only perform abortions if they have admitting privileges at a local hospital.
Texas abortion clinics fear that there will be no clinic left in the State if the 2013 law takes full effect. Further they plead that the new law is an infringement of women's liberty who has the right to choose whether to have a child or not.
The law, when passed, sparked many unwelcoming situations and protests in Texas. The law was signed by Ricky Perry, who is now the Presidential candidate for U.S., stating that the law is a common-sense measure to protect women. It is unsure how the Supreme Court will deal with this issue as Presidential election is near.
